About Course

Media Literacy and Addiction Awareness in Education” is a six-day training program designed to equip teachers, students, and school leaders with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital age responsibly. Participants will learn to define media literacy, identify the causes and impacts of media addiction on learning, and apply digital wellbeing practices such as time management, digital detox, and balanced media engagement. The course emphasizes critical thinking, responsible media use, and collaborative projects that raise awareness within schools. By the end of the program, participants will design actionable strategies and plans to foster healthier and more sustainable digital environments in educational contexts.

Daily Program

1. Day: Introduction to Media Literacy and Media Addiction

  • Understanding the concept of media literacy.
  • The role of media in education and society.
  • Defining media addiction and its types.
  • Group discussion: How media influences students daily lives.

2. Day: Causes and Symptoms of Media Addiction

  • Psychological and social factors leading to media overuse.
  • Risk groups among students.
  • Recognizing behavioral and academic symptoms.
  • Activity: Self-reflection on personal media habits.

3. Day: Impacts of Media Addiction on Education and Wellbeing

  • Academic performance and concentration issues.
  • Effects on mental health and social relationships.
  • Impact on family communication and school environment.
  • Case studies: Examples from real school contexts.

4. Day: Promoting Healthy Media Use in Schools

  • Time management and responsible digital behavior.
  • Digital detox and balanced media strategies.
  • Encouraging alternative activities (sports, arts, outdoor learning).
  • Workshop: Designing classroom guidelines for media use.

5. Day: Educational and Social Strategies for Prevention

  • Role of teachers and parents in prevention.
  • School-wide awareness campaigns and projects.
  • Cooperation with NGOs and educational authorities.
  • Creative activity: Developing posters or slogans against media addiction.

6. Day: Action Plan and Final Presentations

  • Building a school or classroom action plan.
  • Peer review and feedback on action plans.
  • Final presentations by participants.
  • Closing reflections: How to sustain awareness and practices beyond the course.
  • Certificate ceremony and cultural activities.

Reminding

  • Participants who attend at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance on Friday or Saturday.
  • Training sessions are scheduled for either the morning or afternoon.
  • It is important to bring your own laptop.
  • Any changes during the content week are subject to the trainers planning.
  • Elemantary English (A2) required
  • Requests from participants must be submitted to the training center at least 4 weeks in advance.
  • Please plan your cultural activities outside of the training hours. If you participate in a cultural activity during training time due to unavoidable reasons, please note that no make-up sessions will be provided.
  • The training has been adapted according to Erasmus+ budgets.
